Fantastic blog - very moving post. I was there in March but haven\'t been able to write about it. Yes, one single grain of rice proffered from the dirt got you killed instantly in those days. I am amazed, as a country, the reasons by which we pick our battles. There is no one that lives there that did not lose a brother, sister, mother, father and often in the cruelest ways.

Wow, amazing post. I have to say I cried a bit as I read it. It really is amazing what the human spirit can live through and likewise how cruel it can be. I would love to get his contact info. I know I am headed there on my trip but not sure when. I will send you an email. - Beth

Really good post about Tuol Sleng and the Killing Fields. Wrote two blog posts about the same topic myself after having visited back when I was in Cambodia. It is definently the travel experience on this trip that left the greates emotional impact on me.. Kudos for recommending tour guides that aren\'t your everyday tout..

Thanks Lauren...how did you get all of this guy\'s words down? Did you record him? That\'s a lot of information to quote...what a detailed blog!

Bonnie and I went to your \"Bug Cart\" when we were there and I had a nice fresh deep fried spider. yep. tastes like....pork. way better than the guinea pig in Ecuador. Way better.

Hmmm. Jody, I\'d be more inclined to eat the guinea pig!

I scribbled a lot of notes while Peter talked. We were sitting pretty in the tuk tuk, so it was easy to listen and write. He also repeated himself a bit too since he was not totally confident about his English and our \"understanding.\"

Even so, I didn\'t capture a lot of what he told us - he talked for almost an hour. There was a lot more history, more about Pol Pot, more stories to break your heart.

After writing this post, I wrote to Peter Tuk Tuk Driver to thank him again for sharing his stories and his wonderful guidance.

He responded:

[quote]\"How are you today? When i saw my email I was happy to hear from you. I am pleased to hear that you are sharing your experiences with friends and family. I look forward to meeting anyone that you have recommended me and sharing my experiences with them as well. This year has been rather slow for tourists so I am happy to hear of your website and hope that it brings me many customers.

Thank you
Peter
